가정법 : 가정법+but[except, save] (that)+직설법/ 직설법+otherwise+가정법

오늘 공부할 내용은 한 문장에 가정법과 직설법이 함께 쓰인 형태에 대해 공부해 보겠습니다.

이것은 접속사 but[except, save] that과 접속부사 otherwise가 쓰인 문장인데 주의해야 할 몇가지 내용이 있습니다.  

학습포인트 : 1. but[except, save] that과 otherwise가 사용된 문장에서는

                       가정법과 직설법이 앞에 오는지 뒤에 오는지의 위치에 주의하세요.

                   2. 이 경우 가정법이 직설법보다 한 시제 빠름에 주의하세요.

                   3. 두 문장은 접속사 if ~not으로 고쳐 쓸 수 있다는 사실과 if ~ not으로 고쳐 쓸 수 있어야 합니다.

= I would go abroad to study/ if I were not poor.
   난 유학을 갈 텐데/ 내가 가난하지만 않다면.

 

I would have fallen/ but that the professional mountain climber/ caught me.
= I would have fallen/ if the professional mountain climber/ had not caught me.
   난 굴러 떨어졌을 텐데/ 그 전문 산악인이/ 날 잡지 않았다면.

 

 

직설법 ＋ otherwise ＋ 가정법

 

I have money with me;/ otherwise/ I would be/ put to shame.
= I have money with me;/ if I didn’t have money with me,/ I would be put to shame.
   내겐 돈이 있어요,/ 만약 그렇지 않다면/ 난 창피당할 거예요.
   ☞ 내게 돈이 있어 망정이지 아니라면 난 창피당한다니까요.

 

I had money with me;/ otherwise/ I would have been put to shame.
= I had money with me;/ if I had not had money with me,/ I would have been put
   to shame.
   내겐 돈이 있었어요,/ 만약 그렇지 않았다면/ 난 창피당했을 겁니다.
   ☞ 내게 돈이 있어서 망정이지 안 그랬으면 창피당할 뻔했어요.
