Sophie : 여름 연휴를 어떻게 보냈니?

< Key Expressions >

 

■ summer vacation = summer holiday = 여름 휴가, <학생에게는> 여름 방학

■ How was~? : ~이 어땠어요?

<과거에 일어난 일에 대해 묻는 질문 형식>

Ex. How was your winter vacation? = 겨울 휴가를 어떻게 보내셨나요?

■ regular job 일반적인 일

■ have an internship at ~ : ~에서 인턴쉽으로 (인턴 사원으로) 일하다

<인턴 발음에 주의할 것>

Ex. I had an internship at ABC Company.

정규사원으로 일하고 있다 = I have a regular job at ABC Company.

■ Is that right? = really? = Is that so?

정말로요? <놀람>

■ How was~? 어땠습니까?

Ex. How was it? How was kimbab?

■ too clumsy 너무 서투른, 미숙한

■ make a mistake = 실수를 저지르다

■ gain something = ~을 얻다

■ tons of ~ = a lot of ~ = many <수적으로> 많은

■ valuable skill = 중요한 기술

Sophie : How was your summer vacation?

Jason : I had a very busy holiday. I had an internship at Winglish.

Sophie : Is that right? How was it?

Jason : I was too clumsy and made a lot of mistakes.

Sophie : Don’t worry too much. I’m sure you gained tons of good experience.

Jason : Although they didn’t pay me much, I learned lots of valuable skills.

 

What if...- 사실 나도 지원했었어

Lisa : 나도 인턴사원으로 지원을 했었는데 공교롭게도 인턴 자리를 얻지 못했어.

■ competitive = 경쟁적인, 경쟁심이 강한

■ put in = ~을 내세우다, <요구, 서류>를 제출하다, 청구하다

■ Good luck. 행운을 빌어.

■ keep one’s fingers crossed = Good Luck. 행운을 빌다

place.

Jason : I hear what you’re saying. It’s very competitive to get an offer.
