1. 극장 좌석에 얽힌 일화

People came into the cinema, consulted their tickets and filled the seats around us.

By the time the film started/

there were about thirty of us /

sitting together in a tight pack /

in the middle of a vast and otherwise empty theater.

Two minutes into the movie,

a woman with many shopping bags /

made her way with difficulty down my row,/

stopped beside my seat, /

and told me in a stern voice /

that I was in her place.

This caused much play of flashlights /

among the usherettes /

and anxious re-examining of tickets /

by everyone in the vicinity /

until word got around /

that I was an American tourist /

and therefore unable to follow simple seating instructions.

Then, I was escorted in some shame /

back to my assigned seat. etz 

사람들은 극장에 들어왔고, 티켓을 살펴보고, 우리 주변에 좌석을 채워앉았다

영화가 시작되었을 무렵/

우리 주변에 30명 정도가 있었다/

밀집되어 앉은채로

넓은데 우리가 없었다면 텅비었을 극장의 중앙에

영화가 시작되고 2분후,

많은 쇼핑백을 든 여자가/

힘들게 내가 있는 줄로 다가왔고,/

내 자리옆에 멈췄고/

나에게 엄격한 목소리로 말했다/

내가 그녀의 자리에 있다고

이것은 유발시켰다 많은 전등불빛을 /

극장 안내인들에게서

그리고 불안한 티켓점검을/

주변의 모든사람들에 의한/

말이 퍼질때까지 /

내가 미국인 관광객이라는

그리고 따라서 간단한 좌석안내도 이해하지 못한다는

그리고나서, 나는 안내되었다 약간 창피해하면서

나의 지정된 좌석으로
