[연구개발에 대한토론] Company - 002 Discussing R&D

Situation : Lester and Helen are discussing the importance of R and D in relation to the development of the company.

Lester : Our company is aiming for the highest in technology and the best in quality.

           What do you think is important in reaching these goals?

Helen : Research and development -- without a doubt.

           Without the proper R and D to get a product started, it won't go anywhere.

Lester : I agree, but remember, our investors may see R and D costs as money spent without the possibility of an immediate return.

Helen : But they have to realize it'll take money to get a new product started.

Lester : I know we're looking at a tough market.

           We can't rely on old ideas and average quality.

Helen : True, but the first people we need to sell are not the consumers; it's the investors.

Lester : So we need to put together a good plan showing how the money will be spent and what our goals and expectations are.

Helen : Yes. And we also have to show them that we have competent people to do the job.

Lester : Correct.

Situation : 레스터와 헬렌은 회사의 발전과 관련하여 연구개 발의 중요성에 대하여 토론하고 있다.

Lester : 우리 회사는 최상의 기술력과 최고의 품질을 목표로 하고 있습니다.

           이런 목표들에 도달하기 위해 당신은 무엇이 중요하다고 생각하나요?

Helen : 당연히 연구와 개발이죠.

            적절한 연구와 개발 없이 제품생산을 시작한다면 그것으로는 아무 것도 할 수 없습니다.

Lester : 나도 동의합니다, 그러나 명심하세요, 우리의 투자자들은 연구개발비를 즉시 회수될 가능성이 없는 비용이라고 볼 수도 있어요.

Helen : 그러나 그들도 새로운 제품을 만들기 위해서는 돈이 필요하다는 사실을 인식해야만 합니다.

Lester : 나는 우리가 힘든 시장을 바라보고 있다는 것을 알아요.

           우리는 낡은 생각이나 평범한 품질에 의존할 수는 없어요.

Helen : 맞아요. 그러나 우리가 제일 먼저 설득해야 하는 사람들은 소비자들이 아니고 투자자들이에요.

Lester : 그래서 우리는 돈이 어떻게 쓰일지, 그리고 우리의 목표와 기대치는

           무엇인지를 보여주는 좋은 계획을 구성할 필요가 있어요.

Helen : 맞아요. 그리고 우리는 투자자들에게 그 일을 수행할 능력있는 인재가 있다는 것을 보여줘야 해요.

Lester : 그렇죠.
