Lesson 13 – 제안하기

 

Jason: Are you going to Lisa’s housewarming party?

Sophie: Yeah. Are you going there empty-handed?

Jason: Of course not. I’m thinking of buying a bottle of wine.

Sophie: How about getting a bottle of champagne? I’ll chip-in a few extra dollars.

Jason: That sounds like a good idea. I’m all for it.

Sophie: Deal! What time do you want to meet then?

 

Jason: 너 혹시 리사 집들이에 갈 거니?

Sophie: 어, 갈 거야. 그런데 너는 빈손으로 갈거니?

Jason: 당연히 아니지. 난 와인 한 병 사갈까 생각 중이야.

Sophie: 샴페인을 사가는 것이 어때? 나도 돈을 보탤게.

Jason: 아주 좋은 생각인데. 전적으로 찬성이야.

Sophie: 좋아! 그럼 몇 시에 만날까?

■ are you going to ~: ~할 거니?

*상대방의 의사를 물어 볼 때 많이 사용한다.

 

■ a housewarming party: 집들이

*a baby shower: 임신 축하 파티

 

■ empty-handed: 빈손으로

ex. Are you going there empty-handed?: 빈손으로 갈거니?

 

■ a bottle of wine: 와인 한 병

*two bottles of wine: 와인 두병

*a bottle of beer

*a bottle of champagne

 

■ I’m thinking of ~: ~할까 생각 중이다

 

■ How about ~?: 상대방에게 무엇인가를 제안할 때 많이 사용한다.

ex. How about getting a bottle of champagne?

ex. How about getting a box of beer?

ex. How about getting a box of milk?

 

■ chip in: (포커 등에서) 돈을 걸다, (현금)을 보태다

 

■ I’m all for it.: 난 전적으로 찬성이야.

*I’m against it.: 난 반대야.

 

■ completely wrong: 완전히 틀린 [잘못된]

 

■ Deal! = OK! = 좋다!

 

What if... – 그냥 음식을 사서 갈까?

 

Sophie: You know, Lisa doesn’t like to drink that much.

Jason: Really? Then what should we do?

Sophie: Why don’t we buy something together and give it to her?

Jason: It’s a good idea. We can get some beer, some steaks and grill them at her place.

 

Sophie: 그거 알아? 리사는 술 마시는 거 별로 안 좋아해.

Jason: 정말? 그럼 어떻게 하지?

Sophie: 우리가 뭐라도 같이 사서 리사에게 주는 것은 어떨까?

Jason: 그거 아주 좋은 생각이군. 맥주랑 스테이크 좀 사고, 스테이크는 리사네서 구우면 되겠네.

■ doesn’t like to drink: 술 마시는 것을 좋아하지 않는다

*not a big fan of alcohol: 술을 별로 좋아하지 않는다

 

■ that much: 이 대화에서 사용된 that 은 so나 very 와 같은 뜻으로 사용되었다.

 

■ What should we do?: 어떻게 하지?

 

■ Why don’t we ~?: ~하는게 어때?

*자신의 생각을 상대방에게 제안할 때 좋은 표현이다.

 

■ It’s a good idea.: 그거 좋은 생각이야.

*It’s a good idea. = It’s a great idea. = That’s a plan!

 

■ grill: 굽다

ex. Grill steaks on the grill.: 스테이크를 그릴(석쇠)에 굽다.

 

■ a place = a house = an apartment = a crib

집으로 house 뿐만 아니라 여러 표현들이 있다. crib 은 젊은 층에서 사용된다.
